This stunning shawl in nude najaf fabric, which is an elegant, thin material almost like gauze, is incredibly challenging to embroider and few women still possess this skill level today in Palestine. The detailed embroidery in rusts and lilac is painstakingly done by women in Palestinian villages working from home is a skill passed on, the craft of traditional Palestinian tatreez.
This hand stitching work is done by Manjel Ma’qoud, a group we began in December of 2023 in response to the desperate economic situation imposed on Occupied Palestine. In 2024 it provided income generation to more than 80 women.
